Optional AI tools

Enhance decisions, streamline operations and promote fairness with privacy-first AI tools from Good Grants.

Private, secure and responsible AI for grantmaking at scale

Good Grants AI tools feature introduces meaningful, easy-to-use AI capabilities into your grantmaking without exposing your program data to third parties. Each AI tool runs securely within Good Grants’ virtual private cloud (VPC), ensuring complete privacy, compliance and control.

Surface insights with AI fields

Feature is available on all plans.

The optional Good Grants AI field provides a private, practical way to interact with the information you already hold, directly on your forms. It enables you to leverage generative AI to surface, summarise, make recommendations and much more from information found in applications, reviews, allocations, payments and reports.

The field does not connect to the internet or external datasets.

Good Grants interface showing that AI fields can be configured directly on your forms. In this example it's configured to generate a financial summary of the application.

Optional by design

AI tools are entirely opt-in. You choose when and how to use them. Data is never sent to any AI models without your explicit consent. No data is ever sent to LLM vendors.

Private and secure

All AI operations happen securely within Good Grants’ virtual private cloud (VPC), ensuring no data ever leaves our environment or reaches model providers.

Efficiency, scaled

Simplify and accelerate routine tasks like eligibility checks, allocation surfacing, review insights, feedback for applicants and much more to save time across hundreds or thousands of applications.

Better decisions, greater impact

Support decision-making at scale, across the grantmaking lifecycle. AI tools can assist with a wide range of micro-decisions associated with managing applications and grants.

Use prompts to power AI insights

Grant managers and program admins can pose natural-language questions and receive immediate, context-specific insights directly within Good Grants. Configuration is simple: add an AI field to your form, craft a prompt and define use to summarise applications, generate feedback or perform more sophisticated checks.

Example prompts

  2. List any potential conflicts of interest in this applicant’s proposal.
  3. Summarise all reports submitted by this applicant, include any noted challenges.
  4. Summarise whether the project aligns with the stated funding priorities.
  5. Assess whether the applicant’s described outcomes appear achievable within their stated timeframe.
  6. Provide an overall evaluation of the applicant’s capability to deliver this project, using reviewer feedback and reporting history.
  7. List payment dates and their purposes.
  8. Summarise whether the grantee reported any underspend or overspend.

Good Grants' AI tools are a secure and responsible set of AI capabilities designed to enhance good grantmaking, helping you understand, evaluate and communicate with clarity and fairness, without ever exposing your data externally.

Good Grants' AI tools streamline analysis, simplify reporting and strengthen decision-making. Whether you’re reviewing progress, summarising outcomes or preparing impact reports, AI tools help you work more efficiently and equitably with the information you already hold.

Completely. All processing happens inside Good Grants' virtual private cloud (VPC). Your applications, reviews, allocations and reports stay within your account and are never used to train or improve third-party models.

Good Grants supports a choice of vetted LLMs: Mistral, Claude, and DeepSeek (DeepSeek available for US-based clients only). Each operates within our private infrastructure, ensuring full compliance and data isolation. No data is sent to any model provider and if AI tools remain disabled on your account, our AI tools will not gain access to your data in any way.

AI usage is based on pre-paid credits. You purchase a credit balance in advance and automatically draw from it as you use the tools. This approach ensures transparency, prevents surprise costs, and helps you stay in control of your budget. Every account starts with $10 (USD) in free credits to explore the tools safely. AI usage is determined through two things: the input token is the prompt or data context you send to the AI, while the output token is what the AI replies with. For more information, see AI pricing.

By removing bias in language, standardising summaries and ensuring comparable treatment of applications. AI tools support transparency and equity in how you assess and communicate decisions.

A program manager will need to enable AI tools on the account, first. Once enabled, you can start using AI tools straight away, your free credit is automatically applied. Account owners will receive a notification when the tool is enabled. They will also receive periodic email notifications advising usage and outstanding credit balance.
