Streamline your application experience with our new and improved home page

by | May 8, 2023 | Feature focus

A great user experience results in great applications and even better grant program outcomes.

We’ve always believed in good user experience and good design. But, it’s been seven years since we first designed our application home page. And, along the way, we’ve been listening. More space for content. Accessibility-friendly. Easier for the applicant to get started more quickly.

While the Good Grants home page is only briefly seen and used for a few moments, it is one of the most important views in the application. It’s where your program participants first interact with your program, and it sets the tone for the rest of their experience.

That’s why we’re excited to announce big improvements to the home page experience.

The updated application home page allows grant managers, their team, applicants and grantees to access your Good Grants platform with greater ease and convenience but also presents more utility to you.

Here’s a quick list of the improvements made to the home page:

  • An exciting redesign of the layout
  • Easy navigation to the home page for logged-in users
  • Streamlined registration and login
  • Options to display grant opportunity forms and categories
  • Optional display of about page content and new menu
  • A new language preference selector

Exciting layout redesign

With more capabilities, a mobile-friendly layout and accessibility in mind, the home page has received a layout redesign.

Easy navigation to the home page for logged-in users

Viewing the home page without logging out or switching browser windows is now a breeze!

The home page can be accessed directly from the Good Grants platform by all logged in users. Users can simply click on the home icon in the top menu at any time to return to the home page.

Accessing home when logged in allows grant managers direct access to see what the homepage might look like without logging out of the system. Great for editing content blocks or testing configuration changes.

To return to the “logged in” view, grant managers and their teams just click on a relevant workspace they have access to.

Streamlined registration and login

Both login and registration are now handled by a single form on the Good Grants platform, offering a more intuitive experience for grant program participants. It provides a clear path for users to access the platform, reducing the amount of time and effort needed to access it whether on mobile, desktop or tablet.

The user verification process has  been simplified to a single step, making access to the Good Grants platform fast and easy—but still secure, with a 6-digit code (6DC) sent via text message or email.

Options to display grant opportunity forms and categories

Grant managers can now promote their opportunities directly on the home page! This can help reduce friction in the registration process and provide an intuitive, streamlined experience for your applicants.

What else can be optionally displayed on the home page?

Grants management software Forms
  1. Home category promotion content block
  2. Opportunity forms
  3. Every opportunity form now includes an “Apply” button that leads directly to the application form
  4. Category name
  5. Category description
  6. Category sponsors/ partners
  7. Downloadable blank application PDF
  8. Category “Apply” deep link button (shareable link).

Optional display of about page content and new menu

Providing more program context and promoting grant opportunities is a critical step in the grant management lifecycle. That’s why we’ve made it possible to display additional content blocks for users who are not yet logged in. The home page features a menu above the login/registration form to make it easier for users to navigate through this information.

Clicking on an item in this list will take users to a new view that displays the relevant content—all to help applicants better navigate and choose the right grant opportunities.

There’s no limit to how many content blocks can be created, enabling grant managers to share a wide range of information with page visitors.

This content can also be removed if grant managers don’t want it visible to the public. The menu will not be visible if there is no additional content.

A new language preference selector

For programs with more than one language active, you’ll notice the language selector has changed location.

We’ve positioned this language selector as the first focus point—the top left corner of the home page to ensure applicants experience an easy application process, in the language of their choice.

A strong start = a strong submission

These new home page updates are designed to bring flexibility and functionality to the forefront of the grant management and grant application experience, all to improve outcomes and drive impact.

Try it out for yourself. It’s free for 14 days.
