Promote opportunities with invitations

by | Nov 23, 2022 | Article, Feature focus

If your program only accepts applications from a select group of applicants, is driven by a targeted grant round or employs any kind of closed grantmaking approach, generating awareness of your program with potential applicants is a critical step in ensuring your grantmaking success.

You could use a separate email tool, post opportunity announcements on your website, leverage specific industry/community notice boards or rely on regular check-ins from potential applicants.

Or, you could just use Good Grants and invite applicants directly from the platform!

Good Grants helps grantmakers solicit applications and additional information via forms. These forms are incredibly powerful and can be configured for a wide range of purposes, including the ability to restrict access and visibility of a form to invited applicants only.

Use invite-only access when it suits your program

Forms set as invitation-only can be deployed at any stage of the grant lifecycle, allowing grant programs to target specific applicants and grantees to complete a submission for a wide range of purposes. For example:

  • To solicit applications for closed opportunity grants, whether competitive or by direct selection (non-competitive), particularly if used as the first form in your opportunity application process.
  • Once an applicant has passed eligibility screening or has an approved expression of interest (EOI) or letter of intent (LOI).
  • As a means to solicit supplementary information from either applicants or grantees.

How to set a form as “invitation-only”

All you would need to do is navigate to the Forms view, find the form you want to set for invitation-only access and click on the form settings.

Once in settings, check the box that says Invitation-only access and click the save button.

That’s it. There’s nothing else to do. This form is now configured to only show to invited applicants.

Send your invitations

Once a form has been set as “invitation-only” it’s time to send your invites.

Invitations can be sent to individual applicants or en masse to multiple applicants at a time. Useful for ensuring application volume quotas or encouraging previous applicants to apply.

Invited applicants can optionally receive a customised application deadline, great for staggering application volume or extending application deadlines to the invited applicants.

Grant managers can also suggest particular opportunities or categories to their potential applicants, perfect for encouraging applications to less competitive, less popular or most relevant opportunities.

Closing

Used in combination with each other, Good Grants’ invite-only forms and invitation functionality can help grant programs of all kinds solicit information from a closed group of applicants and is a great way to augment your opportunity announcement strategy.
